Information about neoclocapsid

Description

The nucleocapsid (N) protein is the most abundant protein produced by the SARS-CoV-2 genome and is a major structural and multifunctional protein. The primary role of the N protein is in the virus replication cycle, by packaging the positive strand viral genome RNA into long, flexible, helical ribonucleoprotein (RNP) complexes through its N-terminal domain (N-NTD), which makes this domain an important drug target. The C-terminal domain of the N protein (N-CTD) is involved in dimerization. N protein also interacts with the viral genome and membrane protein during virion assembly. Plays a critical role in enhancing the efficiency of subgenomic viral RNA transcription as well as viral replication
