In polyprotein 1a (pp1a), NSP11 consists of a 13-residue peptide which is a very small cleavage product processed from the C- terminus of pp1a with an unknown function. It more likely forms part of an essential translation reading frame shift mechanism and is unlikely to significantly influence the function of NSP10. In polyprotein 1ab (pp1ab), NSP11 is translated into NSP12 due to the - 1 frameshift between pp1a and pp1b.
